REGION ORINOQUÍA

Natural Subregions Colombian Orinoco are:
·         Piedemonte Llanero.
·         Llanuras del Meta.
·         Llanuras del Guaviare.Pantanos del Arauca.
·         Serranía de la Macarena.

It is located on the eastern flank of the Eastern Cordillera , in the upper watersheds , medium and low different rivers of the piedmont . Contains several Andean forest ecosystems as subandina in the middle , and very dense jungle area associated with the foothills . It is the limit of the natural region of the Orinoco with the Andean region. The ecosystems in this area are essential for the development of the plain. ( Dominguez 1998 )
Serrania de la macarena
Colombian region is located in the department of Meta, in the Andean foothills in the Amazon rainforest , is the meeting point of ecosystems Andean, Amazonian and orinocense . Inhabited by peasants heirs recent colonization process , motivated by the violent expulsion of peasants from mid-twentieth century , La Macarena is recognized by both biotic and physical importance by the many conflicts that cross . The Sierra de La Macarena contains a mountain belonging to the Guyana Shield , located east of the Andes and separated in its northern end , about 40 km from the Eastern Cordillera. This relief forms a band north-south orientation with an approximate length of 120 km and a width of 30 km . Their average height is about 1600 m .
ANDÉN ORINOQUÉS
It consists of a high plain, which extends on the left bank of the Orinoco River between Port Inírida and Puerto Carreño. It has a flat relief and some rocky outcrops. Its sandy deposits, very thin, is the boundary between the plains and savannahs orinoqués on the Guiana Shield. It is covered also by a vegetation sandwiched between sheets and sparse forests.
LLANOS ORIENTALES
It is composed of sheets formed of marine, continental and some sectors of fluvial sediments and dunes. It consists of shallow soils, with a thin layer of silt and sand on the Guiana Shield, located primarily in the departments of Arauca, Casanare and Meta. In general, the landscape is characterized by having overflow areas, flood plains, high plains, corrugated sheets, alluvial plains and recent wind, mostly at left bank Meta. The sectors are niche overflow caimans, alligators, snails, turtles and a diverse fauna of amphibians, reptiles and mammals.
